Organization of Student Representatives

 Commitment: This is a 4-year position. In the MS3 year, the OSR will serve as the Student Curriculum Council (SCC) Co-President Elect, and in the MS4 year they will serve as the SCC Co-President. They will also serve as a UMEC Representative and meet all duties as designated below.

 

Role Description:

The Organization of Student Representatives serves as the student branch of the AAMC. Students from schools around the country are members and collaborate to share projects and ideas regarding medical education and student affairs.There shall be one OSR delegate for each of the four classes of medical students (MS1-MS4). OSRs are expected to represent the interests of the members of PSOM both to administrators and to the AAMC, act as a resource for students and administrators, and contribute on a national level to an evolving educational experience. OSRs shall:

    • Attend the annual AAMC Learn, Serve, Lead conference and regional OSR conferences, and compile key takeaways from these meetings and present these findings to UMELT

    • Identify areas for innovation at PSOM and implement initiatives to further medical education and/or student affairs

    • Strongly consider applying for regional or national OSR leadership positions

    • Serve as one of two UMEC Student Representatives for each class year and fulfill all responsibilities of the UMEC Student Representatives

    • Fulfill all responsibilities of Course Representatives for their class year

    • As an MS1/2, attend all MSG General Body meetings; as an MS3/4, attend all AP meetings; attend monthly SCC meetings

  • The OSR during Core 2 will serve as the SCC Co-President-Elect, and the OSR during Core 3 will serve as the SCC Co-President
