Undergraduate Medical Education Committee

Commitment: This is a 1-year position, with option to renew for a second term. In this role, the representative must attend 80% of UMEC meetings, which generally occur monthly and last 1.5h. 

Role Description:

UMEC serves under the auspices of the Medical Faculty Senate, and reviews all matters related to undergraduate medical education including curriculum, assessments, and policy. There shall be two UMEC Representatives from each class year (MS1-4), one who also serves in the OSR role, and one elected at-large. UMEC Student Representatives shall:

• Attend and actively participate in at least 80% of UMEC meetings

• Vote according to UMEC quorum (number of student votes to be determined at each meeting)

• Review and discuss materials presented by the Chair of UMEC thoughtfully and in a timely manner

• Represent the interests of the student body

• Serve as a liaison between UMEC and the student body, by:

  • Presenting key takeaways from each UMEC meeting at monthly SCC meetings

  • Convey student interests, concerns, and feedback to UMEC
